Updated | By Karabo Tebele
A 30-year-old woman from Limpopo is expected to appear in court in connection with the death of her newborn baby.
She will appear in the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The woman apparently killed the baby shortly after she gave birth in the bathroom of a local mall.
Limpopo police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says the child later died at Mankweng Hospital.
The mother will face a charge of murder.
"The woman was later discharged from the hospital and was immediately arrested on a charge of attempted murder.
"The charge has since been changed to murder after the police learnt about the passing of the baby in hospital.
"The motive for this gruesome incident is unknown at this stage and police investigations are continuing."
