Limpopo ‘serial killer’ abandons bail bid

A 34-year-old man who appeared in court in Limpopo on Monday in connection with the murder of seven women has abandoned his bail application.
The suspect, who is a Zimbabwean national, appeared in court on Monday morning following his arrest last week.
He is linked to the murder of at least seven woman who all disappeared between August and October 2021.
Police say the man would lure the women through social media in promise of a job.
The victims’ bodies, which have since been identified by their next of kin, were discovered in the bushes of different locations in Seshego, Polokwane, Mankwena and Westernburg.

Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Maite Nkoana-Mashabane attended the man’s first appearance at the Seshego Magistrate’s Court, and told the media no foreign national has the right to kill anybody in the country.
“Court processes and our constitution are there to take care of every other citizen. As of foreign citizens, they have no right, no basic rights whatsoever to come and kill generally and women in particular. We’ve had enough.”
The suspect is facing charges of murder, rape, defeating the ends of justice and robbery.
