[LISTEN]: 'Nomvula Mokonyane did nothing for Bosasa, Watsons'
The nephew of late African Global Operations (formerly Bosasa) CEO Gavin Watson has dismissed allegations that his uncle had a corrupt relationship with former cabinet minister Nomvula Mokonyane.
August 26 marked a year since Watson’s death.
Watson was involved in a car crash at OR Tambo International, although the circumstances around his death was questioned from the day it was reported.
Jared Watson believes there is no evidence to substantiate the testimony given by the company's former COO Angelo Agrizzi at the commission of inquiry into state capture.
In 2019, Agrizzi told the commission he was personally instructed by the company's CEO to deliver monthly bribes of R50 000 to Mokonyane.
He also said Bosasa would sponsor African National Congress (ANC) events, through Mokonyane, when she was still an MEC.
"The Watson's do not deny a relationship with Mokonyane but she did nothing for the company. How is it even possible? Bosasa did not tender for anything with (her former portfolio) Water Affairs," says Watson.
