LISTEN: Partner details Jamie Bartlett's last moments, cause of death revealed
The partner of Jamie Bartlett has confirmed cardiac arrest as the veteran television actor's cause of death.
Rosa Onious spoke to Jacaranda FM about how she tried to resuscitate Bartlett at their home in Johannesburg.
Barlett passed away in his sleep on Monday at the age of 55.
"He took his afternoon nap as usual when he is not working just to rest, Onious says.
"I tried to wake him up he was lying there on the couch. I was like 'Jamie, Jamie wake up' and he was not responding, and I started shaking and smacking him on the face saying 'you need to wake up'.
"My mom tried to do CPR on him as well and we called an ambulance, paramedics tried to resuscitate him but he was already gone."
She says Bartlett always wanted his memorial service to be held in Soweto and be buried in Cape Town.
Bartlett became a household name for his role as villain David Genaro in the soap Rhythm City.
Other popular TV dramas that he has starred in include Jozi H and Isidingo.
Bartlett also starred in movies such as Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, White Lion and Nothing for Mahala.
