"This strike is more than just about a strike over a demand for 8% - our demand is for insourcing," says Numsa's Phakamile Hlubi-Majola.
As the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) and the management of South African Airways (SAA) meet at the Council for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA) on Saturday, workers say the issue at hand is not salary increases.
"This strike is more than just about a strike over a demand for 8% - our demand is for insourcing," says Numsa's Phakamile Hlubi-Majola.
She says that talks deadlocked this week, leading to strike action by unions, over the issue of insourcing.

"There's no point in us demanding wages if we don't know where this money is going to come from," says Hlubi-Majola.
"By us forcing them to commit to insourcing we know that this is how the airline can then begin to recover financially."
The workers' strike has led to SAA canceling its flights on Friday with the grounding of its domestic and regional flights extended for a further two days.
