LISTEN: Zero prospect of success for Zuma appeal– legal expert
Updated | By Eva Chipa
Legal expert Ulrich Roux believes former president Jacob Zuma has hit
the end of the road in his attempt to stay out of prison.
This after the High Court in Pretoria overturned the decision by former correctional services commissioner Arthur Fraser to place former president Jacob Zuma on medical parole on Wednesday.
However, The Jacob Zuma Foundation has announced that the former president will appeal a court ruling against him.
Roux explains the chances of success for the former president are close to nothing.
“I think there’s absolutely zero prospects of success I don’t think a higher court would reach a different conclusion, I studied the judgement and I think that the judgement is sound in very aspect.
“It’s clear that Arthur Fraser operated outside his scope and outside of his capacity when he found that the Medical Parole Advisory Board must not be followed and he himself decided JZ should be provided medical parole.”
Matojane also ordered Zuma back into the custody of the department to serve out the remainder of his sentence.
“This will once again mean the end of the road for Mr Zuma but does not mean he’s not going to try and exhaust every possible legal avenue. We can expect he will approach the Constitutional Court”
