LIVE: Mbalula releases crime stats

Police minister Fikile Mbalula is releasing the annual crime statistics in Parliament on Tuesday.
He is presenting the past year's crime statistics to Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Police.
It comes after Mbalula presented the crime statistics for the 2016/17 financial year to Cabinet last week.
Then communications minister Ayanda Dlodlo said in a statement: "Cabinet has expressed concern following disturbing reports of crimes against children, the most recent one being the alleged sexual assault of more than 80 pupils at... [a Soweto school], by a scholar patrol guard."

There has been a scourge in sexual assault at schools, especially in Gauteng.
