M1 Braamfontein off-ramps to be closed from Saturday
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has warned motorists of a temporary road closure at the M1 Smit Street Interchange from Saturday to Monday.
The closure is to allow for JRA road testing and investigations.
The roads will be closed between 9 am and 3 pm, except during peak hours when all ramps will be fully reopened to ease traffic.
Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes around the Braamfontein area.
“Full traffic accommodation, traffic control officers, and clearly marked detour signage will be implemented,” said JRA Traffic Engineer Esther Schmidt.
“Motorists are advised to plan their trips in advance, allow additional travel time, and follow posted detour signage.
“Public transport operators are requested to brief drivers on the alternative routes.”
