‘Ma, we will all be fine’ - Ellen Mashatile’s children bid her farewell
Ellen Mashatile’s son Thabiso paid tribute to his mother on Thursday morning as she was laid to rest.
“You always said ‘if I die today, I will rest easy knowing that my children will be fine’. Ma we will all be fine. Rest peacefully. Thank you Mme Mashatile.”
Ellen's daughter Palesa also told mourners how much she was loved by her mother.
"I can confidently stand here and say I was loved. My mom loved me so much, I am so glad that I got to make her proud everyday she was alive."
Ellen Mashatile, who is married to African National Congress (ANC) treasurer-general Paul Mashatile, died on Sunday after a long illness.
She passed away a week after Paul Mashatile also buried his mother.
