Mabuza: There is enough land for all
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The Great Kokstad municipality building was named after the late Griqua leader, Adam Kok, on Monday.
Deputy President David Mabuza officiated the renaming and statue unveiling ceremony of Kok as part of National Heritage Day in Kokstad, KwaZulu-Natal.
Mabuza says the ceremony is a reminder to the country of its rich history and heritage.
"We meet on this soil to claim our identity, the sense of self and all that makes and defines us as a united, non-racial, non-sexist South Africa that continuously strives for a just and prosperous society."
Mabuza adds the country have enough land to create wealth and prosperity for all those who live in it.
He says this is what the late president Nelson Mandela and struggle stalwart Albertina Sisulu envisioned.
"Yet our people cannot work to own the land. They have no means of production and no heritage to embrace and fully benefit from it.
"On this day, let us remember our heritage. It is in a manner that will unite all South Africans in our diversity. We quite aware that we are different people, but we are one nation."
Mabuza also called on South Africans to recognise and celebrate each other.
