Magashule: It’s a shame MK vets are struggling
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Ace Magashule has lambasted the ruling party for failing to take care of the basic needs of those who fought for the country's democracy.
Magashule vowed to speedily deal with the grievances raised by MK vets in KwaZulu-Natal.
He and uMkhontho we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) president Kebby Maphatsoe were locked in a meeting at the ANC's offices in Durban on Tuesday.
MK vets demonstrated outside the offices, demanding that the ANC make good on a promise to provide them with basic services including housing.
Magashule said it’s a shame that those who fought for democracy are still struggling.

“It’s not going to take us 26 years. We are going to come with a program of action which we are going to give to your leaders. All that they said are genuine demands. Things will be changed from today comrades, we promise.”
Maphatsoe also called for unity amid the spat between the MKMVA and Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula.
He said the meeting was “very fruitful” and another engagement is scheduled for Wednesday.
Magashule and Maphatsoe have been locked in a bitter spat with Mbalula over claims that they are using the MKMVA to fight their factional battles.
Mbalula also accused the pair of using fake companies to loot the embattled rail agency, Prasa.
