Mahikeng man found with mother’s head in bag

A 25-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Molopo Magistrates' Court in Mmabatho on Monday after he was found in possession of a decapitated head.

The suspect was arrested at the weekend when members of the community at Montshiwastad village in Mahikeng tipped off police. 

North West police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone says the 25-year old admitted to killing his mother. 

“During the search, indeed a human head was found inside the bag.  The suspect allegedly admitted to killing his mother on Monday, 7 September in Hercules, Pretoria. As a result, he was arrested.

“The suspect will, after court appearance today, be transferred to Pretoria to face a charge of murder.

“The motive for the incident is unknown.”
