Maile: My future is in Makhura's hands

Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements Lebogang Maile says the decision to remove him from his post lies in the hands of the premier.

Maile says he didn't appoint himself into office and therefore Gauteng Premier David Makhura is the only person who can take the decision.

"So, at the right time the premier will make a pronouncement, and I think we should respect those process and give the premier space," says Maile.

This comes amid the battle between the provincial and national African National Congress (ANC) gender parity.

The governing party is adamant that where a provincial premier is male, as is the case in Gauteng, 60% of the MECs must be female.

Maile was speaking to the media in Rama City, west of Tshwane where he was handing over some 300 houses to residents in the area.

Maile says at the point the provincial government is more concerned over service delivery and not position in the cabinet.

"It is the ANC that is governing and not individuals, and once the ANC has made that decision, we must all respect that decision."
