Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema on Tuesday continued his tour of the North West province to garner support for the party’s second anniversary celebrations to be held in Rustenburg on Saturday.
About 1000 people, including ululating women, welcomed Malema when he arrived at the Ikemeleng informal settlement in Kroondal, near Rustenburg.
EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said Malema’s speech on Saturday would be broadcast live on SABC radio.
“After the speech we are going to have entertainment until 23h00 and [then] we pause. At twelve midnight we will celebrate the birth of EFF with fireworks,” Ndlozi said.
He said the EFF was formed on July 26, based on the Cuban 26th of July Movement which kickstarted the Caribbean nation’s revolution.
Malema was expected to speak to his supporters in Kroondal, Boitekong and Luka this week.
