The High Court in Johannesburg has heard that Muzikayise Malephane did not sell cigarettes or alcohol during the lockdown.
Malephane, who confessed to killing the pregnant Tshegofatso Pule at Durban Deep in June 2020, told the court he was hired by her boyfriend Ntuthuko Shoba whose now in court for her murder.
Acting judge Stuart Wilson made an order that the witness's name and anything that could identify her.
The witness, who we refer to as X, was with Malephane in June 2020, the day he killed Pule.
X told the court she was with him around 5pm but he left later that night saying he is going to drop off his cousin.
The witness said Malephane didn't come back that night, they saw him at 1pm and he said he was helping his cousin who was in a fight and got stabbed that night.
X said eventually Malepane confessed about what he had done to Pule.
During Shoba's testimony he said he only met with Malephane to buy cigarettes during lockdown level 5 as he couldn't access them.
Witness X said she never saw Malephane selling any cigarettes nor alcohol.
The witness broke down and cried at the end of their testimony
