The gruesome murder took place at a lodge along the R518 between Mokopane and Marken road near Masodi village in Limpopo earlier this month.

The deceased were found strangled, while the woman’s hands were tied behind her back.

Both their bodies were found in a state of decomposition when discovered by police.

It is alleged that the man and woman, along with their nine-month old baby, were dropped off at the gate of the lodge by a grey unknown motor vehicle late in the evening.

Apparently, the trio rented a room without providing their personal information and promising the receptionist that they will check out the next day.

The following day, the receptionist decided to go and check on them, where she made the gruesome discovery.

Furthermore, there was no presence of the male suspect who came to the lodge with the deceased.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says police were subsequently notified of the bodies and a 72-hour activation plan was activated.

“A massive manhunt was launched which resulted in the arrest of this suspect at Brixton, in the Gauteng Province.

“The motive behind this incident is still not clear at this stage but domestic violence may not be ruled out,” adds Ngoepe.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Mokerong Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
