Man arrested for threatening to assassinate govt officials

A 58-year-old man has been arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and intimidation after he threatened to assassinate senior government officials.
The man was arrested in Ratanda, south of Johannesburg on Thursday following threats he made in April.
Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale says the man continuously stalked members of the Hawks and sent death threats.
"He also claimed responsibility for the death of two [Hawks] members in Mahikeng recently during a standoff with cash-in-transit robbers."
The man appeared at the Germiston Magistrate's Court on Monday.
