Man confesses to stabbing ANC MPL Mapiti Matsena to death

A man accused of the murder of former African National Congress (ANC) MPL Mapiti Matsena has pleaded guilty to the crime.

Matsena was stabbed to death at his Doornpoort home last year.
Monoko Francis Thoko, 29, appeared in the High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to murdering Matsena well as house robbery.

Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in North Gauteng Lumka Mahanjana says Thoko was found guilty of house breaking with intent to murder.
"Thoko pleaded guilty to the charges of murder and house breaking with intent to murder."
Matsena was stabbed multiple times and died on the spot while his wife was present with him in their bedroom.
The matter was postponed to 19 July for sentencing.
