Man in court for kidnapping of ‘half-naked’ Ethiopian nationals
Updated | By Nomfundo Twala
The case against an Ethiopian national facing twelve counts of kidnapping has been postponed.
Mantesnot Lendido Erisado, who appeared in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on Friday, is accused of abducting twelve men who were initially believed to be teenagers earlier this week.
Erisado was arrested after authorities received reports of a group of half-naked Ethiopian nationals, aged between 20 and 30, walking through the streets of Mulbarton.
Further investigations by the police indicated that two additional victims were allegedly taken in a vehicle connected to the suspect.
When police later located the vehicle and attempted to stop it, Erisado allegedly fled, leading to a high-speed chase.
The matter has been postponed to 12 January to allow the accused to obtain legal representation and prepare for a possible bail application.
