A man has been shot dead in Maake outside Tzaneen, Limpopo police said on Tuesday.
"He was found lying dead with a bullet wound from the back to the chest, next to Nelson Ramodike High School between Marumofase and Nabane villages near Lenyenye township," said Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
He said the body was found on Sunday and had not yet been identified.
"He is a man around 28 years old who was wearing a cream white shirt and black trousers."
The motive behind his killing was unknown and there were no known suspects.
"The police are therefore making a special appeal to all members of the community to come and assist in the identification of the deceased and also to assist with information which may lead to the arrest of suspects."
Those with information could contact their nearest police station or go to Maake police station.
