Mandela case postponed to 14 December

A grandson of the late former president Nelson Mandela appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday where the rape case against him was postponed for further investigation.

The 24-year-old, who cannot be named until he pleads, is accused of raping a 15 year old girl in the bathroom of a restaurant in Greenside in August this year.
Magistrate Paul Du Plessis ordered Mandela’s initial bail conditions be re-instated.
He is not allowed to leave Gauteng without permission from the investigating officer and he must report to the Norwood police station every Monday and Thursday.
Du Plessis read out Mandela’s bail conditions to him while he stood in the dock in a checked shirt and a black blazer.
In September, his bail conditions were temporarily amended to allow him to be treated for depression at One Military Hospital in Pretoria.
The case was postponed until December 14.
