“We do have a case where a girl was raped in court today, but details will be released in court,” spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.

The 24-year-old man made his first court appearance on Monday. He was arrested on Friday and held at Parkview police station.

The alleged rape reportedly took place on August 7 in a bathroom of a restaurant in Greenside, north of Johannesburg. The alleged rape reportedly took place when the victim went to toilet and was followed by the accused.

He was expected to plead on the charge and apply for bail on Friday.
