Mantashe: ANC needs to own up to its mistakes
Updated | By Jacaranda FM news
Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC) Gwede Mantashe has admitted the ANC has made mistakes and need to own up.

Mantashe was speaking at the South African Communist Partry's Imbizo at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg.
"We need to accept and own up that mistakes have been committed and that a number of issues could have been handled better", said Mantashe.
Mantashe says the ANC's upcoming elective conference will be an opportunity for the party to correct its mistakes.
"We have an opportunity to elect a new leader in December, it's just six months away. We just shouldn't tear the movement apart".
"We must elect a leadership that is serious about changing the image of the ANC", added Mantashe.

Tensions between the SACP, Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) and the ANC have been mounting, following President Jacob Zuma's cabinet reshuffle at the end of March.
The SACP was the first alliance partner to call for the President to resign, followed by Cosatu.
Both alliance partners were dissatisfied over the firing of Pravin Gordhan as Minister of Finance.
