Mantashe: ANC waiting on SARS, SARB before acting on Phala Phala
ANC national chairperson Gwede Mantashe says the party will wait on the South African Reserve Bank and Revenue Service before acting on the Phala Phala scandal.
Mantashe was speaking to journalists at the Gauteng ANC elective conference in Benoni.
“If you talk of Phala Phala, we are not talking about a president who has stolen resources, we are talking of a President whose money was stolen. Therefore, if that money was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"Therefore SARS must deal with that issue and the Reserve Bank must deal with that issue. We will follow the outcomes of that process and act. Let’s allow SARS and the Reserve Bank to look and see if there was any law that was broken.”

President Ramaphosa is under fire after it emerged that a large amount of foreign currency was stolen from his Limpopo game farm in 2020.
This has led to calls, even from within the ANC, for him to step aside pending the investigations.
Former spy boss Arthur Fraser brought the issue to the fore after laying a criminal complaint against Ramaphosa.
