Marathon Mooikloof substation repairs 'almost done'
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The Mooikloof substation in Pretoria is set to be switched back on by the coming weekend.
The substation, which was damaged by a fire, should be ready to provide electricity again by Saturday.
Saturday will mark day nine without power for some areas in Pretoria East.
Spokesperson Hilgard Matthews says the city is finalising the last bit of the repairs to ensure power is restored to residents.
“On my left here you can see that the team is busy and doing the cabling of our control panels and these are the cables and these are the panels that will give instruction to our protection units inside.
"And this is to basically protect the entire and control the entire network over here. And then right in front of us you will see additional panels being pulled in and we are still keeping to our nine-day deadline and on Saturday we should be switching on.”
