March and March launches NPO to take battle against govt to courts
The leader of the anti-immigration group March and March, Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, announced the launch of a non-profit organisation, dubbed SA First Forum, on Monday evening.
The new entity will litigate against the government on behalf of March and March.
The launch of SA First Forum comes amid a three-month campaign of protests and dialogue calling for stricter enforcement of South Africa's immigration laws.
Ngobese-Zuma said the forum will predominantly argue on behalf of “Black people, owners of the economy, and private individuals”.
"This forum will provide justice to the voiceless South Africans, who for many years, justice had remained a distant cousin," she added.
"This organisation will be the vanguard of South African citizens.
Ngobese-Zuma said SA First Forum will soon head to court to challenge an alleged memo issued to South African Police Service members, instructing them to "refrain from participating in any actions arranged by civilians to identify, threaten, and remove all foreigners from their homes..."
She also claimed that SAPS members were instructed to inform private individuals with complaints of suspected undocumented migrants to refer them to the Department of Home Affairs or the Border Management Authority.
"It is our respectful view that this seeks to diminish and or undermine the fact that being in the country without proper documents and or illegally is a crime; and therefore this circular invites the police not to act even when a crime is committed right in front of them."
