March an ‘ultimatum’ says Cosatu as it warns about its voting power
Updated | By Jacaranda FM news
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) has sent out a stern warning to the governing party, stating that its march against corruption was an "ultimatum.”
Furthermore, Cosatu has threatened the African National Congress (ANC) that it would not vote for it in the next election.
“Workers have nothing to lose but their chains and all. What we’re going to say is that this is an ultimatum. You do this or this is what is coming to you going to the elections,” said Cosatu’s Gauteng chairperson Amos Monyela on Wednesday.

“We’ve got power as workers to deal with those we’ve put in power so that they are able to listen to us,” he added.
“If they are not going to listen to us as Gauteng, we have taken a decision that time has come for us to start very difficult discussions on future elections in the country.”
Cosatu, the South African Trade Unions (Sadtu), the South African Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) and the various others were marching in Johannesburg and Tshwane on Wednesday against fraud, corruption and gender-based violence (GBV).
