Mark Zinde's murder trial set to kick off
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
The trial against Mark Warona Zinde is expected to begin in the North Gauteng High Court today.
He is accused of killing his mother, former SABC board member Hope Zinde.
The 23-year-old allegedly killed his mother in June 2016 at her home in the Pecanwood Estate outside Brits.
Zinde faces charges of murder and possession of drugs.
He was later charged with assault after he allegedly attacked his father when he was out on bail.
During his last appearance, his lawyer argued that he suffers from Schizophrenia.
A psychiatric assessment from Weskoppies, however, revealed that Zinde is fit to stand trial and capable of understanding court proceedings.
The report also says Zinde did not suffer from any mental disorder when he allegedly killed his mother.
