Mass mobilisation needed against state capture

The South African Communist Party (SACP) Secretary General Blade Nzimande says state capture will also need to be defeated through mass mobilisation.

Nzimande was speaking at the Party's Imbizo at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg.

"Much as we emphasise that we want an inquiry into state capture, we are not going to defeat it through a judicial commission. In the end it is combined mass action from the people of this country that will rescue us", said Nzimande.

The SACP also expressed its disapproval at the reappointment of Brian Molefe as Eskom CEO.

"We do not understand the re-appointment of Molefe. However, we are happy that the African National Congress (ANC) has taken a stand against him going back to Eskom", Nzimande said.

Earlier this week, ANC officials met with Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown following Molefe's reappointment.

Molefe who has been implicated in the report by former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela on the state of capture and has also been at the centre of a storm following his return to the power utility on Monday.

The Eskom board took a decision that Molefe should return to  work, after a resolution could not be reached over his R30 million retirement pay out.
