Mbalula launches plan to curb gender-based violence

He says the plan gives guidance to police officers when dealing with crimes against women and other vulnerable groups. 

"The policy provides SAPS with important instructions on what to do and how to do it when sexual offences and domestic violence is reported," Mbalula says. 

Mbalula says the policy will also ensure communities understand their rights. 

He says the KZN video where a pupil is seen assaulting another pupil is an opportunity to teach. 

"That boy needs to understand he cannot do that to a young woman. To beat her up like that and suffer no consequences. In such matters, we must act and educate and ensure the perpetrators are used as examples," he says.
