Meyiwa trial: Defence wants to re-examine Mosia, Madlala
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The legal representative representing accused number one, two and three in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has asked the court to re-examine Sergeant Thabo Mosia and Senzo Meyiwa’s friend Tumelo Madlala.
Advocates Charles Mnisi and Sipho Ramosepele say they want to re-examine both witnesses.
Ramosepele represents Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi, who are accused number one and two respectively.
Mnisi represents the accused number three Mthobisi Mncube.
Ramosepele told the court there are outstanding issues he wants to clarify with Mosia and Madlala.
“My application is in respect of two witnesses, I concur with my learned colleague (defence for accused 2) Mr Mosia should come and clarify certain aspects and further, my lord, in respect of accused number 2, Tumelo Madlala made a dock identification of accused number two of one of the persons who was in the house on that fateful night. My request as well is that in terms of section 167, he also be recalled to my lord.”

Meanwhile, state prosecutor George Baloyi said the prosecution has no issue with the re-examination of the previous witnesses.
However, that would be done at a later stage.
“Regarding the first issue of calling the witnesses, there is no problem with that because it will be done with the progress of the trial. There isn’t any immediate need to do that, my lord. We will find a suitable date for my lord to do that and as far as Mohlahlo, we will lead her evidence.”
The trial against the five men accused of murdering Meyiwa will continue in the High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday.
