On Wednesday, the party outlined an ambitious, structured plan aimed at positioning the party for a strong showing in the 2026 local government elections.

Nomvalo says the organisation will channel all its energy and resources into mobilising voters and strengthening its campaign presence across the country.

“The operationally devolved election machinery will activate direct voter contact, identify key developmental challenges, and seek guidance from our masses in resolving these problems,” he said.

The secretary-general believes the approach is intended not only to secure electoral success, but also to rebuild trust in public institutions and promote a more self-reliant economy.

The party has also acknowledged internal challenges, particularly uneven performance among its branches nationwide.

To address this, Nomvalo says branches will be rebuilt into active centres of community power.

These structures are expected to go beyond election work and become hubs for political education, organising, and local development initiatives.

"The national detachment committee, national officials, convenors, and coordinators of the leagues and the student movement here were suggesting that there must be a working committee. In fact, we have taken a resolution that there must be a working committee which will deal with the day-to-day work of the organization. This is in line with our structural reform and our institutional development program."

Nomvalo says the party has adopted a clear roadmap with defined timelines, including nationwide consultations, the establishment of election structures, and major rallies leading up to voting day.

These efforts, he notes, are designed to stabilise the organisation and prepare it for what the party believes will be a decisive electoral contest.
