Mkhize confident govt vaccine programme will make up for lost time
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says he does not believe the pause in vaccination programme will lead to delays in the rollout.
Government decided to temporarily halt the inoculations involving Johnson & Johnson two weeks ago due to blood clotting fears.
The programme resumed on Wednesday.
Speaking at the UNICEF online briefing on vaccines, Mkhize said the country is still within its intended timeline.

"We had our plan that the health workers will be vaccinated from 17 February to 17 May. We are still within that timeframe.
"We will be receiving the vaccines so we will be catching up with the health workers," Mkhize explained.
He says the second phase of the vaccine programme - which will focus on the elderly - will be starting on time.
"Which starts on 17 May to 17 October. So we will be able to catch up on time.
"We will also be receiving our vaccines on time".
Mkhize says most of the vaccines will land at the beginning of May.
