MKMVA accuses Ramaphosa, Sisulu of promoting ‘factionalism’

The Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) has accused Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and Human Settlements minister Lindiwe Sisulu of promoting factionalism within African National Congress (ANC).
The MKMVA briefed the media at Luthuli House on Monday.
It is angered by the decision by the two ANC presidential hopefuls to address the rival MK National Council’s conference at the weekend.
The two organisations are locked in a dispute, with each one questioning the other’s legitimacy.
“The MKMVA is deeply disturbed that two senior members of the ANC, comrades Ramaphosa and Sisulu, attended the illegitimate MK National Council conference and addressed the gathering,” said MKMVA President Kebby Maphatsoe.
Maphatsoe said the MKMVA’s National Working Committee has decided to write a formal letter of complaint.
“The result of their attendance of a meeting of an entirely unofficial rebel meeting is that they have made themselves guilty of factional behaviour and they have allowed their ambitions to contribute to the further divide the family of MK military veterans,” said Maphatsoe.
The MKMVA has endorsed Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as its preferred candidate to succeed President Jacob Zuma at the ANC’s elective conference in December.
