Football star Shaune Mogaila is said to be considering entering into a possible plea agreement in the culpable homicide case against him.
Nine-year-old Gomolemo Mavimbela died after being involved in a head-on collision with Mogaila in Tembisa, in October 2024.

The PSL player appeared in the Tembisa Magistrates Court on charges of culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving.
He handed himself over to the police on Wednesday afternoon, hours after the accident occurred.
It’s alleged that Mogaila’s car was pummeled into a vehicle that was transporting a female driver and her two minor passengers along Andrew Mapetha Road in Tembisa.
The girl was declared dead on the scene, while the driver and the 13-year-old boy were rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.
In a viral video purported to be footage of the crash, a black luxury vehicle can be seen crashing into a red car.
According to Afriforum’s Private Prosecutions Unit, which is representing the victims, the affected families insist that the dashcam footage of the accident should be shown so that the seriousness of the crime is considered.
“Video footage from a dashcam shows Mogaila’s high-performance car swerving across a wide bus lane, seemingly at high speed, and colliding with Keo’s car. It is critical that the Court see that footage in order to fully understand the circumstances surrounding this horrific collision,” said the unit’s spokesperson, Barry Bateman.
“AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit has written to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to indicate both Keo’s and Carol’s eagerness to exercise their rights in terms of the CPA by making submissions in response to the proposed plea and sentence agreement,” Bateman added.
He says Mogaila’s legal team told the Court they would make their submission within the next week, and had the case postponed to 30 March.
The soccer player was granted R20,000 bail in 2024.
