Political fixer Brown Mogotsi has retracted his claims that KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini are CIA agents.
Mogotsi made the allegations before Parliaments Ad Hoc Committee on Tuesday.
He alleged that Mkhwanazi and AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini were linked to United States intelligence interests regarding strategic coal export routes.
He said he had been tasked with examining those concerns following discussions around international trade and security interests connected to KwaZulu-Natal.
However, he conceded he could not confirm the existence of a formal investigation or provide documentary proof during the session.
"It will be the attempt to collect… information… but officially I cannot say there is an investigation."
Acting Ad Hoc Committee chairperson Xola Nqola gave Mogotsi 30 seconds to formally apologize for having casted aspersions on the shoulders of General Mkhwanazi and King Misuzulu of AmaZulu.
"I hereby apologise for casting aspersions on Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi and King Misuzulu the Majesty", Mogotsi said.
