Month on month PPI decreases

The producer price index (PPI) for final manufactured goods from November 2014 to December 2014 has decreased by 0.2 percent, Statistics SA said on Thursday.
The annual percentage change in the PPI for final manufactured goods, which is the change on a yearly basis, was 5.8 percent in December 2014.
The annual percentage change in November 2014 was 6.5 percent.
The main contributors to the annual rate of 5.8 percent were food products, beverages and tobacco products -- eight percent year-on-year --and contributing 2.9 percentage points.
Metals, machinery, equipment and computing equipment -- 9.1 percent year-on-year --and contributing 1.3 percent to the change on a yearly basis, was the next biggest contributor.
The annual percentage change in the PPI for intermediate manufactured goods was 6.1 percent in December 2014, compared to 5.4 percent in November.
From November 2014 to December 2014, the PPI for intermediate manufactured goods increased by 0.3 percent.
