More than 1 000 new Covid cases reported in SA

South Africa has recorded 1250 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total infections to 1 578 450.

In his latest report released on Wednesday evening, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize reported a further 48 Covid-19 related deaths.
Limpopo and Mpumalanga reported zero fatalities while Kwa-Zulu Natal lost one life.
Gauteng, Free State and Western Cape reported four coronavirus related deaths, the Northern Cape 5, Eastern Cape 11 and North West 19.
This brings the country’s death toll to 54 285.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients,” said Mkhize.
The country’s recovery rate is at 95%.
The government has resumed vaccinations with the Johnson and Johnson jab under Sisonke Protocol.
So far, 298 153 healthcare workers have been inoculated.
