More than 260 Covid-19 deaths reported in SA

The National institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has recorded over 260 Covid-19 related deaths.
Statistics released by the NICD on Tuesday night show that 268 people succumbed to complications from Covid-19.
Only 20 fatalities occurred over the past two days.
"Due to the ongoing audit exercise by the National Department of Health (NDoH), there may be a backlog of Covid-19 mortality cases reported," reads the statement.

This brings the country's national total of Covid-19 related fatalities to 96 289.
A further 2 824 new Covid-19 cases have also been reported in just 24 hours, bringing the country's Covid-19 infections to 3,628,014 since the start of the pandemic.
This is represents a 8.2% positivity rate.
