Four more suspects have been arrested in connection with the looting of shops in Soweto.
This brings the total number of arrests to 11.
Police were deployed to Soweto after residents started looting shops belonging to foreign nationals on Wednesday night.
Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says the suspects are facing charges of public violence and possession of stolen property.
Police will also be patrolling the area on Thursday nights to avoid a repeat.
"The total number of arrests now reaches 11 from the looting of yesterday. So far the police have been beefed up to continue and monitor the situation in Soweto,” says Makhubela.
"During the raid, one firearm was uncovered and a stolen motor vehicle. We will be continuing monitoring the situation."
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
