Firefighters are on the frontline again to battle the blaze.

Table Mountain National Parks fire manager Philip Prins says the strong south-easterly winds are only fuelling the blaze.

"I wish I could tell you that the fire is contained, unfortunately it's not yet contained.

"About two hours ago there was a flare up again below Tafelberg Road in the Deer Park area and we've pulled all our resources which was on Philip Kgosana. They're now all in the Deer Park area fighting that fire," Prins says.

Prins adds between 500 and 600 hectares of land remain under threat.

"It's still a problem to us. This fire is not going to take one or two days, it's going to take much longer," he warns.

"Hopefully we can get containment very soon but to extinguish the fire, in other words to put it out completely, that's going to take more than a week.

"We hope for the wind to die down. Fighting a fire, the wind is out biggest enemy at this stage."
