Motshekga: This is a personal attack
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
Basic education minister and former ANC Women's League president Angie Mothsekga feels harrassed by the national leadership of the ANCWL.
Leadership of the league released a scathing statement at the weekend accusing Motshekga of organising various events around the country under the banner of the ANCWL.
"Comrade Angie must accept that a duly constituted conference of the ANCWL did not vote for her to continue in the leadership helm of the organisation. She must allow herself to be led and desist from trying to rule the ANCWL from the grave." reads the statement.
Spokeswoman for the minister Troy Martens spoke to JacrandaFM News. Martens says the ANCWL never contacted the minister personally about these allegations, "they just released this statement out of the blue", she says.
"I would say that that is a personal attack," Martins explains, "and the insults like saying that she wants to rule from the grave, I mean those are completely unecessary and quite childish and petty."
Motshekga wants provincial leadership to take up this matter with national structures on her behalf.
