This comes after the two latest incidents sent shock waves across the province.

On Tuesday, a 28-year-old landed in hospital when a community near Hazyview assaulted him for allegedly hacking his 55-year old father to death with a panga.

It’s believed the father and son were embroiled in a heated argument when the altercation ensued.

“Upon their arrival, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple open wounds in his body and was unfortunately certified dead by  paramedics,” said provincial police spokesperson Leonard Hlathi.

“A murder case was then opened meanwhile the suspect was arrested but hospitalised as a result of the assault. He is currently under police guard and is due to appear before the Mkhuhlu Magistrate's Court as soon as he is discharged from hospital.”

Meanwhile, a teenage boy appeared in court earlier this week for allegedly killing his 52-year-old uncle in Casteel near Bushbuckridge.

It’s unclear what sparked the 17-year-old’s rage.

“The investigation into this matter revealed that the teenager was at home when his uncle arrived. It is said that an argument broke out between them which ended sadly as the boy allegedly stabbed his uncle on the upper body repeatedly,” says Hlathi.

“The victim unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and the matter is currently before court.”
