Mthwalume murder suspect commits suicide in police custody

One of the suspects arrested in connection with the murder of five women in Mthwalume on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast has committed suicide in police custody.
Sources within the KZN police, close to the investigation confirmed the suicide.
Two men aged between 35 and 41 were meant to appear at the Umzumbe Magistrates Court on Monday, following the murders of five women.

They were taken in for questioning on Friday after they were found in possession of stolen items suspected to be that of the victims.
While on a site visit to the community on Saturday, Police Minister Bheki Cele confirmed that the two suspects had been arrested.
