Mugabe and co-accused abandon bail bid
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Bellarmine Mugabe, the son of former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, and his co-accused Tobias Matonhdze, have abandoned their bail bid.
The pair briefly appeared before the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
They face charges of attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and possession of a firearm.
It's alleged that Mugabe also breached South Africa's immigration laws.
The presiding magistrate has transferred the matter to the regional court for plea negotiation.
"Your matters will transfer back to Regional Court 2 until 17 March, this year for plea negotiations, both accused will remain in custody until then."
Their arrest followed a shooting incident at the Mugabe residence in Hyde Park in February involving a 23-year-old gardener.
