MULTIMEDIA | SA’s first batch of Covid-19 vaccines lands at OR Tambo
The much-awaited first shipment of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine landed at OR Tambo International Airport on Monday.
President Cyril Ramaphosa and officials braced the heavy rains to see the vaccine loaded from the Emirates Airlines Boeing 777.
The president was joined by Deputy President David Mabuza, who chairs the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Vaccines, and Health Minister Zweli Mkhize.
The AstraZeneca vaccine is produced in India and is expected to be distributed by Biovac.
