Murder solves no problems, says Mchunu

Murder solves no problems, says Mchunu

Murdering another person does not resolve disputes or solve problems, KwaZulu-Natal premier Senzo Mchunu said on Saturday.

Mchunu expressed shock and said he was saddened by the gruesome killing of Bhubesi Ntini and three of his neighbours on Friday evening at Dlebe, Mahlabathini.

“These four men were shot and killed by a family member after an argument over the request by the son that his father must sent the cows. This is a very shocking incident to greet the new year in our province. We are very sad about the loss of so many lives,” he said.

“No matter how much people differ, to kill someone does not solve any problem. We must appeal for calm and restraint in this area. I urge everyone to co-operate with the police and to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to book.”

“We take this opportunity to convey the message of condolences to the bereaved families. We further wish a speedy recovery to the four [others] who are still recuperating in hospitals.

“On behalf of the provincial government and the people of KwaZulu-Natal, we hope the bereaved families will draw strength in knowing that they are not alone during this trying time. The whole of the province of KwaZulu-Natal is behind them. We will keep them in our collective thoughts,” Mchunu said. –
