My name used as ‘political football’, says Mokgalapa

Outgoing Tshwane mayor Stevens Mokgalapa claims his name was used as a “political football” on which to blame the lack of service delivery.
Mokgalapa made the comments during a media briefing in Tshwane on Tuesday, where he also highlighted his successes during his time at the helm of the city.
‘”My name was being used as a political football that service delivery is not happening. As a patriot, as someone who is selfless and someone who came here for service delivery, I saw it necessary for me to step aside and allow service delivery to continue,” he said.

Randall Williams has been identified as the man to succeed Mokgalapa after serving as the city's MMC for Economic Development and Spatial Planning. The party's provincial chairperson Mike Moriaty says Williams was the subject of a rigorous selection process. "His experience and his track record makes him eminently suitable for the post."
The outgoing mayor, who was rocked by allegations of a romantic relationship with then Roads and Transport MMC Sheila Senkubuge, confirmed that disciplinary action against him was concluded on Monday.
He said the outcomes of the hearing are yet to be determined.
“I was at the disciplinary case yesterday and the matter has been resolved. The party will make pronouncements on the outcomes, it’s suffice to say the matter was concluded yesterday (Monday).”
