The recalls are due to potential defects that may affect vehicle safety systems and battery performance.

In the case of the Land Rover Defender, the company says the recall is for the 2026 model of the Defender, affecting 60 vehicles which were made available between 3 November 2025 and 21 February 2026.

“According to the supplier, the third-row lower seat belt anchorage bracket may contain a weld stud of insufficient strength due to material contamination during manufacturing. This defect could prevent the seatbelt from working correctly in a crash, increasing the risk of injury to occupants,” explains Acting Commission Hardin Ratshisusu.

At the same time, Jaguar is also recalling certain 2019 to 2021 Model Year Jaguar I-PACE that were sold nationally between 23 June 2017 and 18 June 2021.

This recall affects 67 vehicles sold across the country.

“The supplier has identified a potential issue affecting the high-voltage traction battery pack. In certain circumstances, the battery may experience thermal overload which may result in smoke or fire.”

As an interim measure, affected Jaguar I-PACE vehicles will receive a software update that restricts the maximum battery charge level to 90%.

“Consumers are advised to limit charging to 90%, park vehicles away from structures, and charge vehicles outdoors where possible,” Ratshisusu added.

Affected owners are advised to contact their nearest authorised dealership. Repairs will be done at no cost to the customer.
