Ndlozi remains EFF member - Malema
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
EFF leader Julius Malema told supporters outside the Constitutional Court on Tuesday that Mbuyiseni Ndlozi remained a member of the red berets.
Malema addressed thousands of supporters outside the court following a march which called for President Cyril Ramaphosa to be held accountable for the Phala Phala farm theft case.
"I hear people are talking about Dr Ndlozi as a member of the EFF, he's a leader of the EFF and no organisation can claim him except for the EFF,” Malema said.
“So you must not listen to gossip from drunkards. You ask us about the EFF leaders and we will tell you that Ndlozi is an active EFF member. He renewed his membership, he is in the membership system of the EFF,” he said.
Ndlozi, who is also a member of the Central Command Team (CCT), has held significant roles in the EFF since the party's founding, including as its first national spokesperson.
Malema's comments come just a day after he refused to address rumours that Ndlozi had been banned from attending the EFF's elective conference in December, labeling the reports as “shebeen gossip".
The claims come amid ongoing tensions within the party, which has seen an exodus of senior leaders to the MK Party.
There have also been reports that some EFF members are pushing for Ndlozi to be elected as deputy president at the December conference.
In a recent address to the Gauteng Provincial delegates, Malema stressed the importance of loyalty in the EFF, suggesting that some members of the party, including "the one who sings well", knew about the departure of his former deputy Floyd Shivambu for weeks without informing him.
Malema's remarks about those who fail to defend the organisation were seen as veiled criticism of Ndlozi.
In his first public address after Shivambu'S resignation, Malema suggested that leaders should reflect the values and direction of the party, including through the actions of those close to them, such as family members.
This came up after Ndlozi’s wife, Mmabatho Montsho, liked a social media post from Shivambu after his exit from the party.
Malema implied that a leader’s circle often reflects their own stance, raising questions about Ndlozi’s alignment with the EFF's direction.
He has said that individuals trading loyalty for personal gain should leave the party, emphasising that the EFF needs "committed soldiers, not those wavering in their allegiance".
